Dumfries Town Band are pleased to announce that Ross Brotherston will be taking up the baton for the Scottish Championships on March 14th. The Band had an enjoyable first rehearsal with Ross on February 8th and will be proceeding forward with him for the Championships.
Many thanks to Ross for agreeing to take us to the Scottish and also to those who made this possible.
As of tonight, Monday January 12th 2015, Dumfries Town Band and Musical Director Neill McDonald have parted company.
The band would like to wish Neill well in his future endeavours and thank him for the work that he did while part of the band.
Recently the Band was awarded a grant of £20,000 from The Holywood Trust in order to purchase new instruments. As a result of this, ITV Border News came down to the Band Hall on Wednesday 5th November in order to do a live segment from the hall. This was broadcast during the 6PM news programme.

Dumfries Town Band have successfully registered for the Dumfries & Galloway Standard WISH campaign. We are now guaranteed to get a share of a £10,000 cash fund!
The more tokens that we collect, the bigger the share of the find that we will receive. If you would like to help the Band then all you need to do is cut out the tokens that will be printed in the Dumfries and Galloway Standard each week, starting tomorrow 22nd October until Friday 12th December.
Then, either hand your tokens to any Band Member or pop them in the post addressed to;

Dumfries Town Band are proud to announce that they are now in association with The Holywood Trust.
The Trust have kindly awarded the Band with a £20,000 grant. This is to enable the band to provide instruments for use in the ever expanding Training Band.
6 Geneva Cornets are about to be purchased at the time of writing this announcement with more to follow.
If anyone would like to learn a brass or percussion instrument, the Training Band rehearses between 6.15pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday evenings in the Band Hall.

Dumfries Town Band has started a Junior Band under the baton of Gordon Brotherston. The band is an ideal place for both young and old players to join if they are just starting to play a brass instrument. See the poster attached after the jump to read more information.
A total of £362 was raised yesterday at the Coffee Morning in St Mary's Greyfriars Church Hall. The band would like to think all the people who attended the event and also helped to run it on the day.
Congratulations to the Players of the Month for January
January's players of the month were player was Michelle McDougall, who plays Tenor Horn and Nancy Stevenson who plays 3rd Cornet.
